Snippet 8
Rod Neep's "Archive CD Books Project" is co-operating with the Family
Records Centre(FRC) in London by transferring as much "book" information
as possible to CD-ROMs.
This is to save wear-&-tear on the old volumes which are suffering
from extensive handling by visitors to the FRC.
In future researchers will be able to read the same information on
screen at the FRC
or can purchase copies of the ROM(s) for perusal elsewhere.
All the CDs will be for sale by the Archive CD Books
Project, at anything between GBP 8.50 and 14.00 depending on the
particular book.
It is the sale of the CDs that will actually pay for the scanning
work to be done (at no charge to the FRC) and also pay for renovation of
the original books.
